Eat, Drink & Be Charitable

Special events have been vital to Houston Area Parkinson Society fundraising since it was founded in 1974 and began raising funds to develop and implement programs and services and support families living with Parkinson’s disease.

Friends and family gather each year for an evening of entertainment, dinner, great enthusiasm, and a shared mission to Eat, Drink & Be Charitable. This gala is our largest fundraising event of the year, providing essential funds that allow HAPS to offer free services and programs to the local Parkinson’s community.

This year’s gala will celebrate HAPS’ 50 years of service to the community. It is a golden opportunity to join the fun while making a difference. Our event chairs invite you to be a part of this fantastic evening October 6th at 6:00 PM at Hotel ZaZa Museum District.

Dear Friend of HAPS,

We are planning an exciting evening at Hotel ZaZa Museum District on Sunday, October 6th, at 6:00 p.m., which will include dinner, drinks, a live auction and more. As Chairs of Houston Area Parkinson Society’s 50th Anniversary Gala, we invite you to join us as an underwriter
of this event!

Our grandfather, Robert Hervey, was diagnosed and lived with Parkinson’s for almost 20 years. Our grandmother Doris was his devoted and tireless caregiver. During this time, our grandparents were very active with HAPS, and were honored at the HAPS gala in 1994.
This organization is dear to us because it was dear to them. We thought it befitting for us
to come together as chairs after the passing of Doris this past year, and exactly 30 years
after our grandparents were recognized by HAPS. In doing so, we hope to honor their memory, continue their steadfast work, and acknowledge and celebrate the organization
for 50 extraordinary years of service.

HAPS embraces the needs of those living with Parkinson’s by reducing fear and isolation; increasing hope, confidence, and support; and by making sure that no one faces Parkinson’s. HAPS takes an innovative, whole-person approach and accomplishes its mission by providing education programs, exercise classes, support groups, enrichment activities, and social services all free of charge for those with Parkinson’s and their family members.

Parkinson’s is the fastest growing progressive neurological disorder in the world. This year, 90,000 Americans will be diagnosed. HAPS is the only organization in the local area providing direct service. Your support of this event raises essential funds for the specialized programs fundamental to successful long-term disease management.

Please join us as an underwriter of HAPS’ 50th Anniversary Gala. Together we can be a part of something great by raising awareness about the complexities and challenges of this disease and ensuring that those living with Parkinson’s have the resources, tools and help they need. Until there is a cure, there is a community for care.

See you October 6th!
